Christmas gift guide 2021

2 min read

We write this with multiple shopping tabs open on our browser as we sift through the endless lists of best Christmas gifts. So, to take the hassle out of spending hours browsing the Internet, we have another – err – list for you. But we’ve done all the hard work, and we’ve kept it short. Think of this as a wish list that you can hand over to your friends and family who never know what to gift you. Here are the top six things we think any hunter/angler/outdoorsy person would love to see under their Christmas tree.

Gyotaku prints

Yes, we featured them in our cover story earlier this year, and yes, we absolutely love them. This John Dory one is our pick but there are more you can choose from on their website. Or, gift your fishing buddy a beautiful Gyotaku print of their trophy catch. It will look perfect on their wall and is a much better way to show off their catch than scrolling through their Instagram feed for that ‘grip and grin’ photo.

Salmon gift pack

How about some smoked salmon instead of turkey on the table this Christmas? These gift hampers from High Country Salmon come in different sizes, and you can choose from: a selection of ready-to-eat salmon, cheese, and accompaniments or one that includes all of the above plus fresh salmon.

Huski cooler

While there’s no better time than the summer break to explore the outdoors, lukewarm brews just don’t cut it when you’re out in the bush, relaxing on the shore, or enjoying a meal with mates. Swap the boring old drinks bottle with a stylish one from the Huski range and never endure tepid drinks again.

Performance is everything with this Apex Cooling Hoodie designed to protect against the heat and pesky mozzies. A must-have for the keen fisher or boatie. Stay cooler and more comfortable during those long summer days spent stalking up the backcountry streams.

Fish of the Day

There may be days you’d rather spend at home, but an angler knows never to let their mind wander away from fishing. Secret fishing spots and great yarns make up this new book by Clarke Gayford and his filmmaker buddy Mike Bhana. It’s gorgeous looking and features 25 incredible destinations, plus some lip-smacking recipes and tips and tricks. The perfect stocking stuffer.
