Fishing & Outdoors Vol 3 Issue 8

2 min read

A new funding boost, a new hunting competition, new fishing rules for salmon, and a new boat sharing service – our latest issue is packed with the latest news and happenings.

Our cover story this month takes a look at the massive $700,000 boost from the Government for hunter training and education. The funding, which is part of the $34 million allocation from the Jobs for Nature Community and Private Land Biodiversity funds, allows for the creation of five positions to develop and implement the National Hunter Education and Training Scheme over a three-year period.

In other news, a new DOC, NZDA hunting competition is targeting feral goats. The competition will be held for the first time from 14 August to 4 September. Also, in a bid to help save New Zealand’s wild Chinook salmon species, a season bag for sea-run salmon will be introduced in the 2021/22 fishing season. And for those who are not keen to buy a boat, Skipperi is offering a new boat sharing service in New Zealand, but if you rather buy one, check out the Trade-A-Boat NZ listings.

As always, we have a cool giveaway lined up, so don’t forget to check our competitions page.
